Jerome C. Vascellaro
Biography
Jerome Vascellaro is a senior partner and chief strategy officer of TPG, a leading global private investment firm. He joined TPG in 2006 after a 28-year career at McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting company where he was a senior director. At Brown, Vascellaro was an engineering and economics concentrator, earning his Bachelor of Science in 1974, magna cum laude. He continued his studies at Harvard Business School, where he earned his M.B.A. as a Baker Scholar. Vascellaro is chairman emeritus of the board of trustees of the California Academy of Sciences and a former board member of the Echoing Green Foundation, a global nonprofit organization that provides seed funding and technical assistance to emerging social entrepreneurs who want to pursue their ideas for social change. Consistent with their interest in social entrepreneurship, Vascellaro and his wife Mary, also a 1974 Brown graduate, established the Vascellaro Family Social Impact Fellowship through the Swearer Center for Public Service. The fellowship, available to entering Brown freshmen who have a commitment to public service, relieves recipients of work requirements during a school year and summer and provides a summer stipend in order to make in-depth community public service learning part of the students' Brown experience.
