
Jeffrey F. Hines
Biography
Jeffrey F. Hines MD serves as Vice President for the Office for Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Connecticut and UConn Health. Jeff earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Brown in 1983 and his medical degree Brown University in 1986. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in 1990 and subsequently served as a Battalion Surgeon with the First Cavalry Division during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm (1991–1992). In 1995, he completed a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Georgetown University Medical Center. Jeff holds faculty appointments in the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Public Health Sciences at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. His extensive research portfolio includes work in human papillomaviruses, clinical cancer trials, health disparities, health equity, and the impact of racism in medicine. He is widely published in these areas. Jeff serves on the Board of Directors for the Urban League of Greater Hartford, the State of Connecticut Comptroller’s Health Equity Committee, and The Amistad Center for Art & Culture at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art. He is also a member of the Connecticut Hospital Association Community Health and Equity Committee. Jeff previously served as co-chair of the Brown Annual Fund. His contributions to the university and broader community have been recognized with Brown’s Leadership Award in 2003 and the Ittleson Cup Award in 2022.
