Biography

Charles Giancarlo, a 1979 Brown graduate and parent, served as a trustee from 2008 to 2014 before being elected for a second term in 2016. He is an entrepreneur, investor and Fortune 50 senior executive with many decades of experience in the technology industry. He is currently the chair of the Engineering Development Committee at Brown, and his service to the University has included roles as a member and former chair of the Advisory Council on Engineering, co-chair of 30th Reunion Gift Committee, member of the Engineering 150th Anniversary Campaign Committee, BRUnet volunteer, and vice chair of the Boldly Brown campaign. He currently serves on the Risk and Audit Committee and is Vice-chair of the Academic Affairs committee. In 2002, he was awarded the Brown Engineering Alumni Medal. In addition to his electrical engineering degree from Brown, Giancarlo earned a master's in electrical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
